On May 20th,Viceroy Cisneros asked the military for help but they said no. They refused. Cisneros was very angry because the people and the military abandoned him and so he said: “Ya que el pueblo no me quiere y el ejército me abandona, hagan ustedes lo que quieran” "Do whatever you want" and he called the Cabildo for May 22. On May 21st, the people who work at the Cabildo were working as usual when they were suddenly interrupted by the "Hell Legion", headed by Domingo French and Antonio Luis Beruti.
